Emamectin
is a semi-synthetic insecticide and acaricide derived from avermectin, a natural fermentation product of *Streptomyces avermitilis*. It acts on the nervous system of pests, disrupting GABA and glutamate receptors, leading to paralysis and death. Highly effective against Lepidoptera, Coleoptera, and mites, it is used in agriculture, horticulture, and aquaculture. Emamectin has low mammalian toxicity but is highly toxic to aquatic organisms. It degrades relatively quickly in the environment, minimizing residue concerns.
