### **Profenofos (50% EC) – Organophosphate Insecticide**

**Mode of Action:**

– **Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor** (IRAC Group 1B) – disrupts nerve function, leading to paralysis and death.

**Target Pests:**

– **Bollworms**, **armyworms**, **leaf miners**, **sucking pests** (aphids, jassids), **mites**.

**Key Benefits:**

– **Contact + vapor action** for hidden pests.

– **Rainfast** within 1 hour of application.

– **Effective against pyrethroid-resistant pests**.

**Crops:** Cotton, vegetables, soybeans, maize.

**Dosage:** 1.5–2.0 mL/L (foliar spray).

**Caution:**

– **Highly toxic to birds/fish** – avoid water bodies.

– **WHO Class Ib (Highly hazardous)** – strict PPE required.

**Note:** Being phased out in some countries – prefer **chlorantraniliprole** or **spinetoram** for safer alternatives.
